General Facts
Name: It's scientific name is Falco novaeseelandiae. It's normal name is the New Zealand Falcon or Karearea in Maori. It is also called a Bush Falcon
Habitat: It lives on cliffs, high country, bushes in New Zealand.
Predators: Hedgehogs, cats, and possums eat New Zealand Falcon chicks but adult Falcons are apex predators.
Prey: Small birds, Insects and Lizards.
Interesting Facts:
- It can fly over 100km per hour
- It's a fearless hunter
Adaptations
Body:
It's body has adapted to grow very long sharp talons for fighting and getting it's prey. It's beak has adapted to be very sharp, for ripping the meat apart on their prey.
It has also adapted it's wings to a shape that it can be able to fly very fast and catch prey in the air.
The colours can be brown and black to help it camouflage.
Behaviour:
It has been adapted to be able to be very aggressive and fearless, to fight and get its prey.
It's adapted it's behaviour to go and find the tallest place it can look down to find it's prey.
